Fanatical About

« Hard 'N Phirm @ The Hudson Theatre - 8.26.7 | Main| Inside With: Seth Herzog - By: Eliot Glazer » Tuesday Aug 28 2007 Fall TV Comedy Preview By: Mo Diggs

Tuesday, August 28, 2007 at 8:05AM The Flight of the Conchords season finale on the horizon (with special guest Todd Barry) begs the question: what will hold our MTV-damaged attention spans in the fall?

NBC

30 Rock , Thursday, 10/4 8:30

For my money, this is the funniest scripted show on network television. Will we see more of Jason Sudeikis this season? Or Ghostface Killah ? The Season 1 DVD comes out next week, btw.

The Office , Thursday, 9/27 at 9

Flying in the face of Gervais' Rule about two seasons being ideal for a comedy series, the American version kicks off Season 4 with a one-hour premiere. Rainn Wilson and Steve Carell make it all worthwhile.

Chuck, Monday, 9/24 at 8

A new action-comedy series from the producer of The OC, this 1-hour show is about "a computer geek who is catapulted into a new career as the government's most vital secret agent."

ABC

Cavemen , Tuesday, 10/2 at 8

Carpoolers , Tuesday, 10/2 at 8:30

Cavemen and Carpoolers premiere the same day and both have NYC comedy stars (Nick Kroll , TJ Miller )

FOX

Back to You, Wednesday, 9/19 at 8

Can the producers of Frasier return to Emmy winning glory? With a similar show already cancelled, Fox is betting its other newscaster based sitcom, Back to You--starring Kelsey Grammer, Patricia Heaton and Fred Willard--can capture the popularity of Anchorman.

The CW

Reaper, Tuesday, 9/29 at 9

According to Variety, nerds are really in right now and the CW is determined to be the tv home for that demo. The CW mines for gold with another season of Beauty and the Geek and some new shows like Reaper. Watch the preview right here.

Aliens in America, Monday, 10/1 at 8:30

Hilarity ensues when a family signs up to host an international exchange student and the kid turns out to be a Muslim from Pakistan. LOL.

Online Nation, Saturday, 9/23 at 7:30

If you wanted to watch internet videos on a television, the easiest way to do it is to connect your computer to your TV. There is no need to build nothing out of something with a show like this. Plus, given that the Saturday night at 7:30 timeslot on CW is probably equal to 350 views, it's best to keep your vids where they belong.

HBO

Curb Your Enthusiasm , Sunday, 9/9 at 10

Easily the biggest TV comedy event of the season. Larry David and company return after two years with more bile and pettiness.

Comedy Central

The Sarah Silverman Program , Wednesday, 10/3 at 10:30

Sarah Silverman accomplishes what Mind of Mencia supposedly does: slaughter sacred cows. Larry David is her only rival in subversive humor this fall.

Adult Swim

Lucy, Daughter of the Devil , Sunday, 9/9 at TBA

Jon Benjamin and Eugene Mirman are in this cartoon which shares cast and crew with Home Movies , according to Wikipedia.

Am I imagining this, or does it seem like the production values of these shows are greater than in seasons past? August 29, 2007 | K Some of these shows look really good, especially sarah silverman show, and reaper...saw the pilot for that. High Quality! August 30, 2007 | BJims Post a New Comment
