Tuesday Feb 28 2006 Office Pirates.com Has Only One Friend
Tuesday, February 28, 2006 at 7:19AM The text on Officepirates.com beckons cybersurfers, "Check out our best friends." The viewer is then presented with what appears to be a list. On that list is A SINGLE FRIEND. Officepirates.com has only one friend!!! What a lame-o!Hold on a minute--that single friend consists of like ONE THOUSAND FRIENDS. OfficePirates.com's best friend is The Upright Citizens Brigade. If you watch the videos, you'll see UCB'ers like Eugene Cordero, Dominic Dierkes, and many others.RELATEDInspired by comments on the Pirate theme, the following is a comprehensive list of all other sites combining "OFFICE" and "HIP TYPES OF PEOPLE."OfficePirates.Blogspot.comOffice-ZombiesNick the Office NinjaOffice Vikings

The Apiary | Post a Comment in General Interest Tuesday Feb 28 2006 So Long, RKB's Comedy Recommendations
Tuesday, February 28, 2006 at 6:23AM It seems like just last week people were mourning the loss of My Blog Is Poop and now, another tragedy has struck. Rachel Kramer Bussel's site, RKB's Comedy Recommendations, is taking its final steps, gently tip-toeing down the dimly lit path to blogdeath. She writes, "This blog may be going bye-bye soon cause obviously my heart's not in it anymore. I'm just kinda focused on other things and feel like a supremo idiot when all I post are announcements that people send me." With a plethora of published articles and interviews, Rachel was one of the first writers to champion the city's comedy people. The Apiary shall memorialize the blog's passing with this excerpt of a slightly edited eulogy as originally orated by House Speaker Dennis Hastert at a recent death pageant:> Twenty years ago, President Reagan Rachel Kramer Bussel stood on the beaches of Normandy, to honor those who made a life, by what they gave. Recalling the men who scaled the cliffs and crossed the beaches in a merciless hail of bullets, he she asked, who were these men—these ordinary men doing extraordinary things? His Her answer was simple and direct: "They were Americans." So I can think of no higher tribute or honor or title to confer upon Ronald Reagan Rachel Kramer Bussel than to simply say: HeShe was an American. Godspeed, Mr. President Rachel Kramer Bussel. God bless you, and God bless the United States of America.

The Apiary | Post a Comment Thursday Feb 23 2006 Comedian Geniuses Teach Youths How to Beat the SAT
Thursday, February 23, 2006 at 9:07AM It seems like you can't swing a delicious candy apple around without getting it stuck on the sweater of a comedian genius these days. Jen Dziura and Lang Fisher are two of those comedian geniuses. Why? Because they're both tutors for the single most comprehensive measurement of one's intellect: the SAT. Jen & Lang spend their days telling aimless, nihilistic youths that with just a little practice, their improved SAT scores could get them on the waiting list of one of the nation's more elite community colleges somewhere, hopefully. Smarty Lang Fisher said, "The test is easy once you know how to do it." If it's so easy, why aren't we all eating frickin' nougat on the Yard at Harvard? Jen Dziura, with a confident swagger in her voice, agreed. Jen, who aced the old SAT, claims she has taken the new SAT and scored a 2390--missing a perfect score by a single question that will haunt her forever. What are their secrets?!? The Apiary neglected to ask, but there's a good possibility they don't come cheap. For high school students out there wondering if you should try to save some $$$ and take a SAT prep class with a NYC comedy figure who is not certified in tutoring the SAT, e.g. Jon Friedman or Bob Powers--hey man, it's your future.

The Apiary | 4 Comments in Hard Hitting Journalism Thursday Feb 23 2006 Rififi Replaces Fact in The Head with At Night with Gabe & Jenny
Thursday, February 23, 2006 at 7:15AM Monday nights have a new face at Rififi. Actually, TWO new faces! Wow, that was so dumb. Jamie Greenberg's trivia/variety show Fact In The Head has been replaced by Gabe Liedman and Jenny Slate's At Night with Gabe & Jenny, a show that has been called "an adorable morning talk show at night time." Gabe Liedman and Jenny Slate are members of the sketch group, The Wiener Philharmonic. No official comments have been made on whether Fact in the Head is gone forever, but... the website hasn't been updated in a while.Photos via wienerphilharmonic.com
