<p>Friday, February 26, 2010 at 2:04PM --Former Daily Show writer and now-former Conan writer Rob Kutner is also the creator of The Shushan Channel, the annual NYC purim spiel that spawned Jewno and Meshugene Men. He's helping to produce a Purim party TOMORROW (2/27) at the 92Y Tribeca, starring Lizz Winstead, Scott Adsit, an original video from Joel McHale, and a surprise message from a former Tonight Show star.</p>
<p>--Within 2 days of his first tweet, Conan O'Brien has racked up over 380,000 followers on Twitter. He currently follows 0 people, which should come as no surprise since he refuses to follow just 1 person IRL. (JAY LENO--get it??)</p>

<p>...From this point on, no one bothered to learn anybody’s names… we referred to each other as numbers all night. Even now I don’t think anyone knows who I really am - I’m #10 to all of them. Or, to #24 I am “The Timekeeper”. #24 was a guy who fell very much into the “fan fan” category of people… he came out to be in line with only a hoodie on and a handful of trashbags that he wore over it. No chair, no umbrella, no friends. As soon as I had finished numbering hands and given the sharpie away, he ran up to me and thanked me for devising “The Number System”.</p>
<p>“No problem! It’s not really a system though.”</p>
<p>“No, it is a system. You just established order on all of these people. And I am going to enforce it.”</p>
<p>Yep. That happened. If I was the Queen, I guess I had a General. The Enforcer AKA #24 AKA Jack Bauer… didn’t dude know we were going to see an NBC show? Crazy part is, within half an hour, he had A DEPUTY policing underneath him - #17. He wore a trashbag too. Uniforms. I felt like Piggy and that blue sharpie was my conch. Only difference, no one was going to borrow MY glasses to make fire.</p>

<p>Thursday, February 25, 2010 at 3:32PM Earlier this week, the NY editor of The AV Club of The Onion, Andy Battaglia, announced the closure of the New York edition, effective immediately. The avclub.com/newyork subdomain has since been scrubbed from the site and region-specific content is gone. For many Area Men, the print edition has been their weekly compass for previews, listings, and regional highlights because the trusted tone and temperament of the The Onion and The AV Club speaks directly to a young, eager, and culturally alert audience. It's a shame to see it go.</p>
<p>So what's in store for the rest of the local editions? Did social media ruin this for everyone? A singular print version with region-specific advertising would certainly cut down on staffing costs but it seems like a lot of eyeballs and unique advertisers will be lost too. The bigger question to be asked possibly is: How dire is The Onion's financial situation?</p>

<p>Thursday, February 25, 2010 at 1:24PM We were momentarily stunned while opening the mail today. Sandwiched between a Chinese take out menu (how'd that get in there??) and a final notice to renew our subscription to SELF Magazine, was a new Sinbad DVD that--according to the back of the box--is "packed" with "material" that's a "must-own for any true comedy/funk music fan."</p>
<p>What exactly should we do with this Sinbad DVD? Is there a proper use for it? Should we watch it?? Suggestions welcome!</p>
