Tuesday Sep 30 2008 Blagg Goes West (Again)
Tuesday, September 30, 2008 at 6:00AM Alex Blagg, Managing Editor of Best Week Ever and all-around awesome guy, is leaving the beloved bloggy sibling of the VH1 chatfest, and heading west. In an e-mail to friends and colleagues, Blagg writes:> This e-mail is to inform you that I have taken a new job at a production company called BermanBraun in Los Angeles, where we will be moving in a few weeks. Do not panic. The effect these developments will actually have on your life will be negligible, but I just thought you might like to know. I realize some of you may have some questions, but most of you probably don't.
The e-mail continues with an FAQ detailing Alex's new place of employment and his anticipation regarding becoming a Los Angeleno (for the record, he - along with his lovely wife, Brianna - is "heading west with an open mind, a full heart, and the hopes of finding the hidden nuggets of goodness buried deep in them silicon hills"). Suddenly, New York just got a little more boring. Best of luck, Alex.[Alex announces his departure at Best Week Ever]

The Apiary | Post a Comment in Colours Friday Sep 26 2008 Have a Safe and Happy Lumberjack Day
Friday, September 26, 2008 at 7:48AM It's time again to remember all the lumberjacks we have lost and be thankful for everything they've done. Marianne Ways, the CEO of Lumberjack Day, sent over this important memo:> Hey all, Can you believe it's been a year since it was exactly a year ago today? Wow, how time flies when you don't know you're supposed to be keeping track! Last September 26th we celebrated the third annual Lumberjack Day at Junior's in Brooklyn. Festivities included suspenders, flannel, and a giant pancake costume provided by Party Central USA. While I can't promise you a giant pancake costume this year, I can certainly promise you more flannel, FREE pancakes, and the opportunity to hang out in Brooklyn's best bar, Black Rabbit in Greenpoint. If you live in NYC, stop by tonight. We'll be dishing out free pancakes from 7pm until they're gone and then drinking the night away. If you DON'T live in NYC, you can still celebrate! Just throw on some flannel, head to a pancake-serving diner and when the waiter tries to take your order, just shout TIMMMMMBERRRRRR at him. He'll know what you mean. And of course I encourage all of you to visit lumberjackday.net to learn more ways to celebrate. The lovely Colleen AF Venable has been an updating fool and has included such amazing pages as Make your own Lumberjack crafts, concoct special Lumberjack drinks, and of course the ever-popular page of cheesy Lumberjack Jokes! So take a little time to celebrate today and hopefully we'll celebrate next year in the promised land! Tree chop, ~Marianne

The Apiary | 1 Comment Friday Sep 26 2008 "A Week of Mother" feat. James Eason & Jason Mantzoukas
Friday, September 26, 2008 at 6:30AM Mother's most recent team photo (May 19, 2008) | Photo courtesy of Tara Copeland Mother's farewell performance, The Finale, at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater in New York is sold out, but there will be a stand-by line. Special thanks to the members of Mother for participating in The Apiary's "A Week of Mother."

Inside With: James Eason & Jason MantzoukasWhat's one of your earliest memories from a Mother show?James Eason: My earliest Mother memory is from one of our first Harold nights. Some in the group say it was our first Harold. I remember it being our third. I suppose it's a better story if I say it was our first Harold night. At any rate, we had a great show. We had good heightening, good group games, etc. and got a great response from the audience. Most of us were in Matt Besser's Level 4 class and the following Sunday afternoon, he singled us out for praise in front of the class. (About a month later, we had a pretty crappy Harold and Besser, in front of the same class, essentially asked, "What happened to you guys?)
