Wednesday, October 7, 2009 at 5:06PM The LA Times is reporting that people are going batshit bonkers over yesterday's announcement that the most anticipated comedy event of the year, The Pee-wee Herman Show, has been pushed back to January and is being staged in a less intimate venue. Fans who purchased tickets already are pee-wee-o'd:

> They were planning to fly to L.A. from all over the country just to see one of their beloved pop-culture heroes. But now many of them are left with dashed hopes and airline cancellation fees -- and they are not happy, to say the least.

"Man, this is the worst news ever," said Steve Gadlin, a lifelong Pee-wee fan who lives in Chicago. Speaking on the phone Tuesday, Gadlin said he had purchased an airplane ticket and front-row seats for the show for the day after Thanksgiving. This morning, the Web developer (and part-time comic and producer) said he requested a refund on his tickets to the show.

Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at 7:00AM Funny gals (l. to r.) Sara Jo Allocco, Katina Corrao and Glennis McMurray will co-host "A Night for Dottie."On Sunday, April 5, more than a dozen of your favorite Big Apple joke slingers will gather at Comix to raise funds for the family of a cancer victim, and also to demonstrate the power of the New York comedy community. The 2nd Annual "Night for Dottie" -- co-hosted by producers Sara Jo Allocco, Katina Corrao and Glennis McMurray -- will celebrate the life and times of Dottie Person, a New York native and mother of five who died of melanoma on April 2, 2007. Dottie, who was 32, left behind a husband and five children, the youngest of whom is now two years old. Though she's quick to deflect credit, longtime friend Katina Corrao spearheaded last year's show and says this year's comedians were just as quick to heed her call for help.Dottie with daughter Caroline | Caring Bridge"Nobody asked about money, about getting paid," she says. "Everybody talks about how the comedy business can be so cut-throat and everything, but if you just surround yourself with really good people, you'll eventually see the greatness that this community has to offer. It's really awesome." Corrao also says the crew at Comix comedy club -- Kambri Crews, Molly Mandel and Brian Baldinger -- were immensely helpful in setting up the event. And last year, local fave Christian Finnegan headlined the show and really brought his A-game, which helped make the show a success. She adds that this year's headliner, Paul F. Tompkins, responded immediately to her initial e-mail request with: "I'm on board, it's in my book, absolutely." According to Corrao, even when Dottie knew her condition was grave, she remained upbeat and optimistic. "Initially, I just wanted to get Dottie's message out," says Corrao. "Because it's not only a fundraiser to help Dottie's children, but I hope it makes you look at your life and say, 'Here's a woman who remained positive and happy despite what was going on in her life.'"Dottie and family, 2005The Person Family"A Night for Dottie" will feature performances by:Paul F.
